Access Statement for The Berwick Blackpool
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all our guests. The following statement is a summary of our provision. We, the owners, are usually available should you require assistance in any way. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre Arrival
The Berwick can be contacted by telephone or email. Rooms can be booked directly with us or via our website (theberwickblackpool.co.uk) or various booking agents (booking.com, Expedia etc).
A large print access statement and breakfast menu are available on request.
Bus stops are within 50 metres with frequent buses having ramped access to Blackpool, Cleveleys and Fleetwood.
Tram and bus stops are also within 150 metres going to Starr Gate and Fleetwood.
Blackpool town centre and North station are 10 minutes by taxi or bus and around 30 minutes walk.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
We have four private parking places at the rear of the property approximately 100 metres from the entrance. Guests are invited to leave their luggage in the hallway before taking their car to the car park. The route from the car park is flat and paved, lit at night by street lamps. The pavement outside The Berwick is flat and paved. There is unrestricted parking on the road in front of The Berwick and a pay and display car park 400 metres away.
We are happy to assist guests and their luggage from vehicles to the hallway.
There are three long paved steps from the pavement to the front door with a ramped access to the left of the property.
The front door is locked at all times, the door bell is to the left of the entrance door at shoulder height.
Main Entrance & Reception
The main door opens inwards and is wide enough to accommodate a scooter or wheelchair if required. There is one small step over the threshold into the level, carpeted hallway.
The Guest Lounge is to the left of the hall and has comfortable seating for guests to relax and a coffee table in the centre.
The Dining Room is at the back left of the hall with individual tables for each room which can be arranged as requested.
Reception and Bar at the far end. A doorbell is to the right of the reception door should you require anything.
Each door has clear signage.
The stairs to the bedrooms are next to reception.
Bedroom Access
There are 13 steps to a small landing with a 90degree left turn to 4 additional steps onto the first floor landing where rooms 1,2,3 & 4 are located. There is a handrail on the left of the stairs which has a short pile carpet.
The entrance hall and both landings have movement sensitive switches to activate lighting on each floor as required.
There is a toilet on the first floor landing for guest use.
From the left of the first landing there are 16 steps, with two half landings (after 4, then 5 steps) with 90 degree left turns to the second floor. There is a handrail to the left of the stairs.
All bedrooms have inward opening doors with level access, half height handles and chest height locks.
All bedrooms have en-suite shower facilities.
All double beds have access from both sides
